Special Events
Five special events mark the passage of the academic year at
Northfield. Each event provides students with unique opportunities to
learn, to perform and to rejoice. Enjoy a brief look at scenes from
these programs over the previous year.
Talent Show
Soon after school begins in the fall, participating students and
faculty begin planning and rehearsing for the Talent Show, which
showcases the musical skills of the Northfield community.
Thanksgiving
In November, students collaborate with the History Department to
produce the Thanksgiving Program, which highlights our national past
and contextualizes the present in performances both serious and
humorous.
Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols.
December offers a celebration of faith with the Festival of Lessons and
Carols. The evening includes instrumental and vocal
performances in the gymnasium, and poetry, dramatic monologues, comic
sketches, music, and dance upstairs in Convocation Hall.
For the past five years, the day of the Festival has featured a reading
of
A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dick Welsbacher.
Americana Night
Americana Night brightens midwinter with musical performances by
students and special guest musicians as we ponder what it means to
belong to American culture, and what our own places are within those
traditions.
Graduate Convocation
In the spring, faculty, students, and families come together to honor
our Graduates;
speeches
written and delivered by some of our student graduates help to make
this evening a truly unforgettable experience.
